These organic golden flax seeds (also known as golden linseed) have a mild, light flavour that is slightly gentler than their brown counterpart, though both varieties are nutritionally similar. They are organically grown without synthetic pesticides or artificial additives.
Golden flax seeds are high in omega-3 fatty acids, particularly alpha-linolenic acid (ALA). ALA contributes to the maintenance of normal blood cholesterol levels. The beneficial effect is obtained with a daily intake of 2g of ALA. They are also high in dietary fibre, with 16g per 100g, and provide 23g of protein per 100g. DirectionsSprinkle golden flax seeds into porridge, yoghurt, or cereal for added texture and a mild, nutty flavour. Add them to bread doughs, muffins, and flapjacks for a seeded finish. They also work well blended into smoothies. To make simple flaxseed crackers, mix flax seeds with enough water to cover them, leave to soak for an hour or two, press into biscuit shapes, and dehydrate slowly in a very low-temperature oven or dehydrator.
