Macadamia nuts are similar to Brazil nuts in flavour and texture, except that they are small and round. They have a very good unsaturated fat content (omega-3 and omega-6), including oleic and palmitoleic acid which is also found in fish oils. These oils are very nutritionally beneficial to hair, skin, cell, nervous and brain health. The good fatty acids in macadamias have been linked to the reduction of high cholesterol levels.
Macadamias contain 9% protein, (both essential and non-essential amino acids). These proteins are good for muscle and tissue maintenance. Macadamias also contain Complex carbohydrates (Dietary Fibre) which is good for regular bowels and creates a better environment for good bacteria to thrive. Lastly, Macadamia nuts contain lots of vitamins and minerals such as; Iron, Potassium, Phosphorus, Magnesium, Calcium, Zinc, Vitamin E and B Vitamins.
