These Soya Beans are the mature beans from the Soy plant. They are a creamy colour and are slightly different in flavour to the green, immature soya bean commonly known as edamame, which you may eat with your sushi.
They suit warm dishes particularly well and can be used in a similar manner to Haricot or Cannellini beans. These cooked soya beans can be quickly whizzed up in a blender with garlic/garlic powder, Harissa Spice and cream cheese to make a tasty dip or even used to replace chickpeas in traditional houmous. Soybean houmous (hummus) will provide you with a wider profile of amino acids than chickpeas, although the protein content is much the same.
