High in fibre (both soluble fibre and insoluble fibre).
A good source of protein.
Can be used to make porridge or added to many baking & cooking recipes for extra flavour and texture, particularly in cakes and digestive biscuits.
Directions
To make porridge, add half a pint of water to 3 tablespoons of oat bran. Bring to the boil and cook for 3 minutes. (serving suggestion for one). You can also mix oat bran with other porridge oats.
Oat bran can be eaten hot or cold. When cold, it makes an excellent supplement to breakfast cereals and muesli mixes. Simply sprinkle on top before adding the milk. You can also add oat bran to the mix when baking biscuits for that extra texture and flavour.
