Bob's Red Mill uses stone ground grains to make coarse flours and porridges. The grain (or pseudo cereal) is finely milled without removing the germ or fibre, thus retaining the natural minerals and oils found in the ingredients.
Gluten Free Guarantee
This mix is 100% gluten free. Not only are the ingredients naturally gluten free but the farms and harvests involved in Bob's produce are regularly inspected to ensure no gluten comes into contact with the contents of Bob's Red Mill cereals.
Sorghum, millet and brown rice are all types of harvested grain. They are not related to wheat and contain no gluten. Similarly buckwheat comes from a harvested grass however it is not known as a grain or cereal. Instead buckwheat is known as a pseudo-cereal and this too has no relation to wheat and is indeed gluten free.
Four grain porridge makes a satisfying, nutritious and comforting gluten free breakfast. Many people cannot tolerate oats, therefore this cereal allows coeliacs and oat-intolerant people to enjoy a warm and porridgy breakfast.
Boil 200ml water then add 40g cereal. Immediately turn down the heat and cook until all water has been absorbed and the cereal is soft (about 10 minutes).
This mix can also be enjoyed with milk, this time by heating the milk and cereal together and keep stirring. If you are making a large batch (more than to people), we advise not to use milk in case it catches at the bottom of the pan.
