Wholegrain Stone-ground Buckwheat Flour

  • Also known as sarrasin flour.
  • Subtly sweet and speckled in colour.
  • Ideal for cakes, pancakes and pasta making.
  • Not related to wheat but makes a good substitute.
  • High in protein.

Buckwheat is a versatile heart-shaped grain (or psudo-cereal). It is not related to wheat (despite its name) but the flour it produces is particularly good for making pancakes and scones, and even noodles if you are feeling adventurous.

Buckwheat has a sweet and nutty flavour and can be used to make bread, cakes and pancakes. Mix with tapioca flour, rice flour or potato flour for the best binding effect.
