Nori Seaweed that is commonly used to wrap sushi, sushi rice and sushi rolls. It is simply cut and used as a wrap. Though toasted, nori sheets remain reasonably flexible, though slightly less so than untoasted nori. The toasting brings out a slightly different flavour.
The nori served in Japanese sushi restaurants is usually of this toasted variety.
If you wish to buy the un-toasted type, try the untoasted nori sheets. You can eat them untoasted, or you can even toast them yourself. (In our view, it really doesn't matter - both are excellent).
Nori Wraps are very handy for quick lunchtime snacks. Simply take a nori sheet and roll it into a cone, stuffing it with more or less any ingredient, particularly salady stuff and bean-sprouts. Nori is as nutrient-rich as most seaweeds, containing high levels of minerals, protein and fibre.
