Star Aniseed

A spice made from the fruit of the Chinese evergreen tree Illicium verum – these star-shaped pods are known for being prolific as both a herbal remedy and culinary ingredient.

  • Star aniseed has liquorice aftertones, similar to that of anise and fennel.
  • Found most commonly in Chinese 5-spice and Indian Garam Masala blends.
  • A warming addition to herbal tea blends and mulled drinks.
