Coconut Sugar has a rich, naturally caramel flavour similar to a light Muscovado Sugar. This sugar is super for all types of sweet cooking and baking! From a crumble topping to your own handmade chocolates, coconut sugar gives your recipes a rounded and natural sweetness.
We find that it tastes sweeter than cane sugar, so we can use a smaller quantity in our recipes to get the same sweetness.
- Use to sweeten chocolate, cakes, biscuits and puddings.
- Can be used to sweeten drinks such as Hot Chocolate, Sweet Lassi, Tea, Coffee or milkshakes.
Usage Notes
Coconut sugar can clump together during storage. If this occurs, it can easily be broken apart with a rolling pin, wooden spoon or cricket bat.
Please note that coconut sugar and coconut palm sugar are the same thing, but they are different from plain palm sugar:
- Coconut sugar/Coconut palm sugar is made from the sap of the flower buds of the coconut palm, whereas...
- ...Plain (non-coconut) palm sugar is different from this. It is made from the stems of other palms (normally the date palm, sugar date palm, sugar palm or sago palm).
