Brown rice flour comes from the whole brown rice grain, husks and all. It can be used in most types of sweet and savoury cooking including:
- Thickening sauces.
- Bread making.
- Cake baking.
- Casseroles.
Brown rice flour does not behave in quite the same way as wheat flour. If it is used in baking, you may need to experiment with various bread and cake recipes until the desired outcome has been achieved. Brown rice flour has quite a distinct, grainy and nutty flavour. If you would prefer a subtler flavour,
hulled rice flour has a more delicate taste.
