Passionflower is used in many contemporary herbal remedies. While its primary use is medicinal, it's also used in food and beverages as a flavouring.
The main contemporary uses for Passionflower are centred around anxiety. Compounds found in the herb have been known to calm and sedate. People have taken the herbal remedy to combat stress, insomnia, attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), pain and many other conditions. But there's little scientific research as yet to support these uses.
In foods and beverages, passionflower extract is used as a flavouring.
