Turmeric powder is made from grinding the dried root of the Curcuma longa plant. With its rich, bright orange-yellow colour this makes it a great natural food colouring, that is widely used in the food industry.
The powder usually has a slightly woody aroma. This particular Turmeric powder has an excellent depth of flavour and aroma, which is light and peppery with a sweet-woodiness.Turmeric combines well with other spices such as ginger and cinnamon. It also benefits from containing an average of 5.98% Curcumin, as compared with the more common 3% content of much on the market.
Directions
To colour and flavour rice, use around 1-2 heaped tsp per 300g of dried rice. Stir in once the water/stock has been added to the pan.
