5-HTP Prolonged Release Tablets
5-HTP (5-Hydroxytryptophan) is derived from the seeds of the Griffonia simplicifolia plant. 5-HTP is a naturally occurring Amino Acid that aids the production of the important brain neurotransmitter, Serotonin. Serotonin is involved in mood and emotion regulation, behaviour patterns, appetite control, and sleep mechanisms.
Tryptophan is obtained from the diet and converted into 5HTP within the body. 5-HTP is able to cross the blood-brain barrier, where it is transformed into Serotonin. 5-HTP is commonly used to support cognitive function by managing mental health (stress and symptoms of depression and anxiety), sleeping patterns, fibromyalgia and migraine relief.

Adults and children over 16 years of age, one to two tablets daily. Can be increased to four tablets daily if required. Maximum of six tablets can be taken a day. Do not exceed recommended daily intake unless advised by a suitably qualified person.
Bulking Agent (microcrystalline cellulose, di-calcium phosphate), L-5 Hydroxytryptophan (Griffonia simplicifolia seed extract), Controlled Release Agent (hydroxy propyl methyl cellulose), Anti-caking Agent (veg. magnesium stearate, silica), Binding Agent (acacia gum).
Do not take 5-HTP if you're taking other medications that increase serotonin levels, such as antidepressants like SSRIs and MAO inhibitors. Use caution when taking carbidopa, a medication for Parkinson's disease.
5-HTP is not recommended for people with Down syndrome, as it has been linked to seizures. Also, do not take 5-HTP less than two weeks before surgery as it may interfere with some medications commonly used during surgical procedures.
5-HTP may interact with other medications as well.
