Recommended Daily Intake of 5-Hydroxytryptophan (5-HTP) Tablets : Adults and children over 16 years of age, one to two tablets daily, can be increased to four if required. Maximum of six tablets can be taken a day. Do not exceed recommended daily intake unless advised by a suitably qualified person.
Bulking Agent (microcrystalline cellulose, di-calcium phosphate), L-5 Hydroxytryptophan (Griffonia simplicifolia seed extract), Controlled Release Agent (hydroxy propyl methyl cellulose), Anti-caking Agent (veg. magnesium stearate, silica), Binding Agent (acacia gum).
Do not take 5-HTP if you're taking other medications that increase serotonin levels, such as antidepressants like SSRIs and MAO inhibitors. Use caution when taking carbidopa, a medication for Parkinson's disease.
5-HTP is not recommended for people with Down syndrome, as it has been linked to seizures. Also, do not take 5-HTP less than two weeks before surgery as it may interfere with some medications commonly used during surgical procedures.
5-HTP may interact with other medications as well.
