The Acai (Euterpe oleracea) is part of the Palm family. The fruit grows between 15 - 30 metres in the Brazilian Rainforest canopy.
This acai fruit has been carefully freeze-dried to retain its nutritional qualities, flavour and dark purple colour. It can be enjoyed with ice-cream and other desserts as well as in drinks.
Acai Powder is high in fibre, low in carbohydrates and rich in essential fatty acids (omega oils) and minerals.
It contains 8.9g/100g of Omega 3 oil (polyunsaturated fat) and 22.7g/100g of Omega 9 oil (Monounsaturated fat) which is beneficial to heart, eye, skin and hair health.
Anthocyanins and Polyphenols are antioxidants which are present within the acia. Along with Iron and Calcium, acai powder may help support immune and blood health.

This acai powder has a very subtle flavour. It isn't really sweet as you might imagine a berry to be and instead the taste resembles that of edible seeds like linseed (flax) or pomegranate kernels. The high omega oil content gives it a slight oily taste too, similar to something like ground flaxseed. This is not unpleasant be any means, and it blends perfectly into liquids and onto desserts.
This powder is ready to use. Just sprinkle it into or onto anything you want!
The recommended amount per serving is about 10 or 15 grams. Give that a go and see how you like it - you can always add more or less depending on your preferences.
