Cranberries are impossible to eat raw, and are always (to our knowledge) cooked, preserved and sweetened in order to make them edible.
Cranberries are often eaten by women as it is believed to help to alleviate the symptoms of urinary tract infections. Opinions differ as to why this is the case, and there is even debate as to whether it is the case. It is believed that the tannins are responsible for this effect. In addition, other phytochemicals within the berries are believed to have a number of beneficial properties, though again there is debate.
The dried cranberries below are ideal for snacking, and are a great and tasty addition to muesli.
