Sweet Slumber Bedtime Smoothie - Recipe

  • Contains 3 foods that may aid sleep - oats, banana and peanuts.
  • A gluten-free and dairy-free soothing smoothie.
  • Makes enough for a large one-person drink.

Ingredients (Healthy Supplies)

  Organic Porridge Oats (1kg) - Sussex WholeFoods
2 Tbsp Gluten-free Oats

  Smooth Peanut Butter, Organic 280g (Meridian)
1 Tbsp Peanut butter

  Ground Cardamom 50g (Hampshire Foods)
2 pinches Cardamom powder

  Sugar-Free Almond Drink with Calcium, Organic 1 Litre (Ecomil)
150ml Almond milk, unsweetened.

Other Ingredients

  • 1 medium banana

Method

  1. Chop the banana into a powerful smoothie and add the rest of the ingredients. Blend for 10-15 seconds, remove jug and shake. Then blitz again for up to 30 seconds or until you have a smooth consistency.
  2. Pour into a mug or cup. Sprinkle with extra cardamom powder if you wish.

Recipe Adaptations

  1. If you cannot tolerate peanuts, then choose almonds or cashews.
  2. The smoothie can be diluted with extra almond milk (or other dairy-free milk) to make enough for two to enjoy.
  3. To make an even more soothing smoothie, add a teaspoon of Manuka Honey.
