When we set out to add a subtle, natural tint to our lip balm, we discovered that many other brands use something called Cochineal - a red colouring made by boiling beetles. Yep, beetles. It can also appear on labels as Carmine, Natural Colours or Natural Red Number. 4. While there's nothing technically wrong with it (unless you're a Cochineal insect), the idea of bug residue on our lips didn't quite sit right with us. So, we found a nicer way.
Instead, we use Raphanus Sativus (Radish) Root Extract - a natural pigment derived from radishes! It gives the Strawberry Tinted Lip Balm its beautiful reddish tint, minus the bugs and synthetic dyes. Plus, it's rich in antioxidants and has gentle astringent properties to help keep lips healthy, moisturised and naturally vibrant.
