Jamaican Jerk Seasoning - Recipe

Spicy & Aromatic Savoury Flavour

  • Blend a batch for your spice rack.
  • Takes 5 minutes to mix!
  • Uses dried herbs & spices that store well.
  • Can be sprinkled into or over food.
  • Use as the basis for a Jerk marinade.

Ingredients

  Hampshire Foods Ground Allspice 50g
1tsp Ground Allspice. One of the key Jamaican spices that makes an authentic Jerk Seasoning.

  Crushed Habanero Chillies 30g (Hampshire Foods)
½ tsp Habanero Chilli Flakes. These are used in place of the traditional fresh Scotch Bonnet Chilli Peppers.

  Thyme 50g (Hampshire Foods)
2 tsp dried Thyme.

  Hampshire Foods Parsley 50g
1 tsp dried Parsley.

  Ground Nutmeg 50g (Hampshire Foods)
¼ tsp Ground Nutmeg.

  Organic Ceylon Cinnamon Powder (100g) - Sussex WholeFoods
¼ tsp Ground Ceylon Cinnamon.

  TRS Black Pepper Powder 100g
1 tsp Ground Black Pepper.

  Hampshire Foods Cayenne Pepper 100g
½ tsp Cayenne Pepper.


  TRS Cumin (Jeera) Powder 100g
¼ tsp Ground Cumin.

  TRS Garlic Powder 100g
1 Tbsp Garlic Powder.

  Organic Coconut Sugar (1kg) - Sussex WholeFoods
2 tsp Coconut Sugar.

  Profusion Himalayan Rose Pink Salt - fine 500g
1 tsp Salt. Omit if you are on a low salt diet!

Method

  1. Put all the ingredients into the container in which you are going to store the finished mix. Ensure that your chosen container is both clean and dry.
  2. Put the lid on and give the jar/container a good shake.
  3. This spice blend will keep its flavour for at least 2-3 months.
If you enjoy using this flavouring regularly then it is worth preparing a large batch. Just double or triple the quantities above as you wish.
