These soya chunks are a convenient means of increasing your protein intake, and can be used as the basis for a main meal in place of meat. They are chewy and firm, just like meat. They are unflavoured, absorbing the flavours and seasonings of the ingredients around them. Soak them before use and flavour with a seasoning such as
garam masala, with a touch of
soy sauce or balsamic vinegar.
Soya protein is very popular around the world, and is a staple for some people. It contains all eight basic amino acids, and is thus a balanced source of protein. It can be used instead of meat.
This 500g pack of soya chunks will make several meals, and is fantastic value. They expand upon soaking and cooking, providing around 2 or 3 large meals for every 100g of dry weight - meaning that this pack makes 10-15 servings. They are produced in the UK, and made from GM-free soya.
Directions
Soak these soya chunks for around 10 minutes before use. To soak, place in a small dish and add seasonings such as
garam masala,
soy sauce or balsamic vinegar, before covering with boiling water. The soya chunks will expand and will then be ready to cook as if they were normal meat. These soya chunks are ideal for curries, with a meaty texture and satisfyingly filling. They also work very well in stews, or with vegetables and
cous cous.
Soya is high in protein, and as such is a great meat alternative for vegetarians and vegans, and indeed everyone!
