When using diatomaceous earth for human consumption, its important to remember it can be dehydrating/increase general thirst and ensure sufficient water/liquid intake. Always consult your GP before starting any kind of supplement.
Alternatively, if using DE around the home and garden for pest control make sure the space is well ventilated and you wear a mask when handling the product to prevent any significant inhalation. Its best to opt for areas that aren't frequented much (cracks in walls, corners, windowsills, etc) to ensure the DE is left relatively undisturbed by those in the household.
Diatomaceous earth is non-toxic and generally safe around pets, but it should not be applied directly to their skin or bedding, as it may cause dryness or irritation. Avoid allowing pets to inhale or ingest large amounts, as this can irritate the respiratory or digestive system. DE can also absorb moisture, so ensure pets stay well-hydrated when using it in shared environments.
