Directions
To make tahini: Blend whole sesame seeds with a dash of olive oil, and optionally a little lemon and salt. This can then be used in home-made houmous, together with chickpeas.
In baking: Use sesame seeds in a granary loaf, or to top rolls and sesame seeds buns!
In general cooking: Sesame seeds are commonly used in stir-fries, or added to rice. They are often used to coat "California Rolls" in sushi-making. Sprinkle into salads or use to coat barbecue meats. Use sesame seeds in many Chinese recipes, including prawn toast.
In desserts: Sesame seeds can be blended into a paste and sweetened with honey to make halva, a popular Mediterranean dessert.
Snacking: Sesame seeds are often used in seed mixes: mix with sunflower seeds and poppy seeds for a "light" mix.
